FAVORITE VETERINARIAN
Since our household contains three outdoor cats, two horses, one indoor Abyssinian, two dogs and four chickens, we’re kind of on a first name basis with every veterinarian in a 50-mile radius. The most heartbreaking moment occurred two years ago when our Abby “Mau Mau” gave birth to four stillborn kittens. She survived, and we’re eternally grateful to the vets who assisted her (and held our hands) during the whole ordeal.
In a testament to how much we all love our animals, 13 different veterinarians were mentioned by our readers. Scratching their way to the top was a tie between Anette Heaslet at Lithia Springs Vets; and Stephen Tesluk/Dennis Sweet at Ashland Veterinary Hospital.
They were followed closely in the balloting by:
• Scott Knox.
• Alice Sievers at Bear Creek Animal Clinic.
• LeAnn Albrecht.
• Best Friends Animal Hospital in Talent.
BEST PLACE TO GET “ROVER” GROOMED
It’s extraordinary how much hair gets shed by dogs every week. We have a border collie, “Roxie,” who sheds 32 pounds of hair per year, most of which ends up in our vacuum cleaner (or under our bed, hiding and just waiting for a chance to take over the world). Everyone will be happy to know that Roxie got a haircut last week, so we’re good for about another month.
When it comes to getting your favorite dog groomed, our readers are fairly limited in their choices here. This was a hard fought battle but in the end, Bark Avenue, located at 2405 Siskiyou, edged out Land of Paws, at 1525 Highway 99 N.
